What is a pregnancy belly cast? A pregnancy belly cast is a 3D mold of a pregnant women’s torso, the cast is done when the women is just about full term. Several layers of plaster of paris wet casting strips are applied to the women’s torso and within a few minutes that cast will set and you will have created an exact 3D mold.

1. Before beginning the belly cast, put on the disposable gloves provided in your Plaster Pressions Belly Cast Kit.

2. Place drop cloths over your workplace including the chair and floor.

3. Cut plaster pressions plaster bandages into strips after measuring them against the expectant mom’s belly, breast usually between 12-16 inch pieces.

4. Have a pan with water handy

5. Apply the barrier cream to the areas that will be casted, making sure that you have a generous amount of barrier cream on, never place wet plaster bandages against unprotected shin

6. Dip a strip of plaster pressions casting material in the water one at a time use your fingers to whisk away excess water, immediately place the wet casting material to expectant mother’s belly. Making sure that the casting material is placed on flat, not crinkled. At this point the mother can be seated for her comfort, once you are ready to cast the lower part of the belly or upper part of the thighs, the expectant mom will then need to stand. It does not really matter what part of the torso is started first, just remember to use the same amount of plaster pressions casting strips to each section of the torso. Don’t worry if there are some areas that need reinforcing, this can be done once the belly cast is dry. This can be done using the left over plaster pressions casting material, simply apply a small amount of casting material to the inside of the dried

Make sure you are only casting the front of the torso, do not wrap the casting
material around the torso.

7. Smooth each plaster pressions casting strip. If you need to make the plaster pressions plaster creamier, sprinkle a small amount of water over the front of the belly cast and smooth out the bumps.

8. You will notice very quickly that the belly cast will start to pull away from you, this is a signal that it is starting to set. Don’t take the belly cast off until you are ready. Once ready simply peel the belly cast away, decorate as you choose and treasure your beautiful form forever
